Kunal & Shikha
12 February 2021
Though the match was kept in filters(as Shikha is a little older than me), one fine day while navigating the app, I opened all the filters and found Shikha's interest kept in there. I just liked the face, her simplicity yet confident, attracted me to read her profile. While reading the profile, I literally felt my search to find a match is over here. After reading the whole profile, I accepted the invitation. Further, it was dusk of May 04, 2020, while working from home due to Covid-19 lockdowns across Canada, I was about to start a closing con-call with my office team. Suddenly, a call from New Jersey number popped-up and it was Shikha's sister (Shruti). As soon she introduced herself, Shikha's profile popped into my mind bright and shining. We talked for a while like I was being interviewed, it was an awkward moment but made me believe even stronger that the girl is my match. The same evening Shikha and I started talking and not a day had come since then that we talked less than 5-6 hours over a 24 hour day. Couldn't realize how the time flew, we would talk about everything happening in each other's life, office gossip, about each other's families, friends and even extended families. We would dance, exercise, workout together on a video call. I specially took a membership to an application called "cult (a Hrithik Roshan's health app)". we would share the stats, compete and even boost each other to workout even harder. Shikha is fond of singing (though she is nothing more than a bathroom singer) but she would dedicate the songs to me on an app called "Star maker". I just loved to appreciate her. She started talking to my parents and siblings as well quite often and even I would talk to her family every other day. We started wishing birthdays and anniversaries to each other's families and everyone in both the families were very positive for our union. I would say, it was a perfect arrangement, "Shaadi" app brought in for us. Heart in heart, we both had pretty much decided to marry each other, while connected on phone and social media for more than 7 months however, I am a core believer that marriages happen once in lifetime and I wanted to make the moments and ceremonies historical and didn't want to promise anything before I had physically met her. Finally, some relaxations came for international flights and I got an opportunity to book my tickets to India and meet my much awaited better half, in person. On Dec 14, 2020 I landed at Delhi Airport, where my sister and brother-in-law welcomed me and I accompanied them to their residence in Delhi. We had already planned to go to Shikha's home in Guna, MP and we started our journey on the dawn of Dec 16, 2020 along with my both the sisters, my niece and brother-in-law. In the evening, we finally met and were talking like we knew each other forever. Roamed around the city a little bit and had dinner together. Next morning we again met for a few hours before my family and myself returned back to Delhi with a plan that Shikha and her family shall now visit my home in Zirakpur, Punjab. After about 10 days, on Dec 26th 2020 Shikha visited my home where we did our first Roka Ceremony and decided to get married on Jan 14, 2021. With lots of preparations in between and busy schedule, finally the day was approaching and we did all the hindu ceremonies of Shaint, Mehandi, Sangeet, Ghadoli on a day before marriage (Jan 13, 2021) and then on Jan 14, 2020 we did shagun, ring ceremony, varmala and faire (traditional marriage) at Hotel Ramada Plaza by Wyndham. Finally, in the evening of our marriage day, we brought the doli home and it was still being felt to me like a dream come true and there on the new chapter of life began happily. Thanks again to Shaadi, for providing us this beautiful platform of connecting the soulmates.
